Texas developer of liquid-fueled molten salt reactors, whose 1 MWt MSR-1 at Abilene Christian University is the first liquid-fuel reactor ever licensed by the NRC.
Natura Resources funded and leads the Natura Resources Research Alliance with Abilene Christian University, Texas A&M, UT Austin and Georgia Tech, an effort originally scoped at $30.5M. The NRC issued a construction permit for the Natura MSR-1 at ACU's NEXT Lab on 16 September 2024 - the first US liquid-salt-fueled reactor licence and the first new university research reactor permit in over 30 years. In August 2025 DOE allocated enriched molten salt fuel to the project, and Natura is working with Texas Tech on nuclear-powered desalination of oilfield produced water, with a larger MSR-100 as the commercial follow-on.
