OpenAI anchors the largest private power build under way in the United States. With Oracle and SoftBank it has announced Stargate sites in Abilene, Texas and across Michigan, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Ohio, New Mexico and Texas; the flagship Abilene campus runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure at about 1.2 GW and is being expanded toward 2 GW. Its five-year contract with Oracle, beginning in 2027, covers roughly 4.5 GW of capacity for approximately $300 billion, and the combined program is approaching 7 GW of planned capacity and more than $400 billion of investment over three years, against a stated longer-term ambition on the order of 30 GW. Vantage's 1.4 GW Frontier campus in Shackelford County, Texas is being built against the same demand.
