Builder of the Colossus supercomputer complex in Memphis, one of the largest single electrical loads in the United States, now merged into SpaceX.
xAI built Colossus in Shelby County, Tennessee — with expansion into Southaven, Mississippi — around self-supplied generation rather than waiting in an interconnection queue. Solaris Energy Infrastructure has roughly 400 MW of gas turbines serving the site out of a 600 MW fleet and expects over 1.1 GW operating for xAI by Q2 2027, while a permanent 1.2 GW simple-cycle plant of 41 turbines was authorized under a PSD permit in March 2026. The first Colossus 2 cluster, about 110,000 GB200-class GPUs drawing roughly 210 MW, came online in January 2026, and around 720 Tesla Megapack containers provide multi-gigawatt-hour onsite storage. SpaceX acquired xAI in an all-stock merger completed in February 2026 valuing the combined company at $1.25 trillion; the business now presents as SpaceXAI.
