Climate-analytics MGA that structures modelled-loss reinsurance for the secondary weather perils traditional cat programmes exclude.

Spun out of Munich Re in 2020 and run by climate scientists and machine learning engineers, Demex models the high-frequency, non-peak perils — hail, tornado, derecho, straight-line wind, extreme cold, inland flooding and extreme heat — that fall below catastrophe reinsurance attachment points. Its two products are SCS Re for severe convective storm and WS Re for winter storm, sold to insurers, brokers and reinsurers as aggregate working-layer protection; the company has secured more than $500M of capacity behind the SCS structure. Backers include Blue Bear Capital, Congruent Ventures, Moxxie Ventures, IAC Group and QBE Ventures.
