Independent developer of long-distance, high-voltage interregional transmission lines that stitch together the separate US grid interconnections.

Grid United is an independent transmission company led by Michael Skelly, who previously founded Clean Line Energy Partners. Its flagship project is the North Plains Connector, a 3,000 MW HVDC line running east-west across Montana and North Dakota that would be the first high-capacity tie between the Western Interconnection and the Eastern Interconnection, developed with ALLETE and Portland General Electric as project partners and Hitachi Energy on converter technology. The project has received US Department of Energy support. The company is headquartered at 712 Main Street in Houston and is pursuing a portfolio of additional interregional lines aimed at the grid's seams.
